Russia’s Bogdanov tackles local, regional situations with Lebanese figures

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov has resumed talks with Lebanese officials on the presidential file following his return from neighboring Syria.

Early on Friday, Bogdanov met with Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Boutros al-Rai in Bkerke and stressed that he will remain in contact with the Maronite Church, the state-run National News Agency reported.

The Russian Deputy FM also said he tackled with Cardinal Rai the latest developments in Lebanon and the region, adding “we discussed the regional situation in general as well as the means to consolidate bilateral ties”.

Following Bkerke’s visit, Bogdanov headed to Mehrab where he held a meeting with Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea.

“We tackled the presidential entitlement and the latest developments in the region,” Bogdanov said in a brief statement following talks with Geagea. He did not elaborate further.
