Woman arrested for attempting to smuggle drugs into Zahle prison

The Directorate General of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued on Saturday a statement whereby it announced that a woman was arrested for attempting to smuggle drugs into the Zahle penitentiary.

"On the 20th of December 2014, members of Zahle's regional police confiscated 250 Benzhexol pills after a woman (Z. N.) tried to smuggle them into the prison,” the Directorate said.

“The woman, born in 1985, hid the drugs inside meat slices in a home-cooked dish she brought to one of the prisoners,” the statement noted.

It added that the woman was arrested, saying an investigation is being held under the supervision of the concerned judiciary.
