Al-Naameh landfill closure campaign warns against failure to close landfill by 17-01-2015

The "al-Naameh landfill closure campaign" warned Tuesday against the issuance of any decision that does not stipulate the final closure of al-Naameh landfill by 17 January, 2015.

In a statement issued, the campaign recalled the promise made by Prime Minister Tammam Salam to the campaign’s administration and to the residents of the neighboring towns, assuring that the landfill will be completely shut down by 17-01-2015.

The campaign also called on the government to add “the issue of treating the landfill after its closure” to the cabinet sessions’ agenda and consider it as an environmental priority.
