Labor Minister says PM Salam adamant on election of new president
“The problem now does not lie in the power vacuum, but in attempts to ‘topple’ the presidential post,” Labor Minister Sajaan Azzi said on Sunday in an interview with LBCI’s Nharkom Said TV Show.

“Prime Minister Tammam Salam has not tried, not even once, to act as a substitute for the president and has been stressing the need to elect a new head of state,” Azzi said.

The minister also called for reconsidering the incumbent government’s role and mission, asking the political forces that are adamant on the election of a president to reexamine the current situation.

Turning to the waste management dossier, Azzi stressed that the Kataeb party will not be in favor of a waste treatment project that does not meet transparency requirements.

“Since 1990, several political forces have been taking advantage of the waste management file,” he added.
