PM Salam says Lebanese people have no option but to resort to dialogue
Prime Minister Tammam Salam stressed on Friday that the Lebanese people have no choice but to resort to dialogue, reiterating his call for the election of a new president for the country.

“We, the Lebanese people, have no option but a rational dialogue based on openness,” Salam said.

He voiced optimism about talks between different factions, welcoming the holding of comprehensive talks to tackle the country's pending issues.

Salam hoped that all-party talks would resolve Lebanon's “substantial problems.”

Hezbollah and the Future Movement held the second round of dialogue earlier this week with the aim of easing down Sunnite-Shiite tensions.

Similar talks are expected to be held between Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun and Lebanese Forces Samir Geagea.

Salam also stressed the need to elect a president who preserves Lebanon’s Constitution.

Lebanon has been plunged into a presidential vacuum since President Michel Suleiman's six-year mandate ended in May.
