The state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported on Thursday that snow covered the Al-Sheikh mountain and the regions of Shebaa and Kafarshouba, noting that roads linking the said regions to Hasbaya are only passable for equipped cars.
The news agency added that high winds (70km/h) along with heavy rains were witnessed during early morning hours in Akkar.
NNA also stated that the temperature in Halba, which is 150 meters above sea level, decreased to below 8 degrees Celsius, emphasizing that all mountainous roads are passable only for equipped vehicles.
Meanwhile, high winds uprooted a tree in the Metn town of Ain Alak, causing severe traffic jam in the said town.
The department added that snow is expected to fall at an altitude of 1000 meters and above during the day, noting that it will reach an altitude of 600 meters on Thursday overnight
