Ahmed Mohammad Salim Jaafar, involved in Btedei’s murder, killed by LAF in Baalbek
The state-run National News Agency reported on Thursday that a man from the Jaafar clan -wanted for the murder of a couple in the Baalbek district- succumbed to wounds sustained after he was shot by the Lebanese army during his arrest.

The agency identified the man as Ahmed Mohammed Jaafar who was injured on Wednesday night after the army ambushed him in a region between al-Yammouneh and Dar al-Wasaa.

A Syrian man, who was accompanying him when arrested, was also killed, the agency added.

Later on, the Army Command-Guidance Directorate issued a communiqué in which it said that while an army patrol was pursuing on Wednesday night the wanted Ahmad Mohammad Salim Jaafar on Dar Waasiaa - Al Yammouni road, he opened fire at the soldiers who fired back at him and wounded him.

The communiqué added that Jaafar was then arrested and transferred to a hospital in the region.

The soldiers confiscated inside the Grand Cherokee Jeep which Jaafar was driving a Kalashnikov and ammunition as well an amount of Hashish.

The car and the seized material were handed to concerned authorities and an investigation was launched in this regard.

Jaafar is wanted for the murder of Sobhi and Nadimeh Fakhri in the town of Btedei that took place last November.

The couple was killed by outlaws from the Jaafar clan who were fleeing army troops.

The armed men entered the family's residence with the intent of taking their car but the tenants showed resistance, which led the armed men to shoot the couple and their son, who survived the attack.
