Change and Reform bloc hails resumption of cabinet sessions
The Change and Reform bloc welcomed on Tuesday the resumption of cabinet sessions, hoping that usual operations would resume at other constitutional institutions.
Former Minister Salim Jreissati said on behalf of the bloc’s MPs: “The presidential vacuum should not hinder the work of state institutions.”
Jreissati’s remarks were made after the parliamentary bloc's weekly meeting.
Lebanon has been plunged into a presidential vacuum since President Michel Sleiman's six-year mandate ended in May last year.
The rival blocs have so far failed to elect a new president despite more than a dozen rounds of sessions.
