Lebanon’s Defense Minister defers deadline of LAF Intel chief’s mandate

Lebanon’s Defense Minister Samir Moqbel issued Friday a decision to defer the deadline pertaining to the term of Lebanese Army Intelligence chief Brigadier General Edmond Fadel until the 20th of September 2015.

On March 18, Defense Minister Samir Moqbel said he would extend the tenure of LAF Intelligence chief Fadel in spite of the disapproval of some political leaders.

“I have informed those concerned with my decision to extend [Fadel’s] term by six months in line with the legitimate powers given to me,” Moqbel told As-Safir newspaper.

Fadel’s term expires today (March 20).
