Cardinal Rai urges politicians to consider seriousness of power vacuum
Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Boutros al-Rai slammed on Sunday the practices of Lebanese political figures, saying “we pray so that the politicians could realize the seriousness of the [current] presidential vacuum and its dire repercussions on the country”.    
 
“We also pray so that they see the impact of the Syrian refugee crisis on the political, economic and security levels,” said Cardinal Rai in a sermon as he celebrated the Sunday Mass in Bkerke.          
 
In the same regard, Rai urged Lebanon’s politicians to realize the seriousness of the economic situation "which has deteriorated in light of the public debt," asking them to consider the workers’ “righteous” demands.
