Lebanon’s Health Minister orders closure of nursery following infant death
Lebanon’s Health Minister Wael Abou Faour ordered Tuesday the closure of “Clarina Et Zoe” nursery in Ajaltoun following the death of a four-month-old child.

Abou Faour said the decision was based on a report issued by the Mother and Child Health Unit at the Ministry of Public Health regarding the death of Elio Salloum at the aforementioned nursery.

“The nursery is unlicensed and doesn’t meet the proper health standards,” the minister said, adding “the nursery’s staff is not qualified to look after children”.

Accordingly, Abou Faour referred the unit’s report and other medical reports to the Public Prosecutor at the Appeal Court in Mount Lebanon and asked Interior Minister Nouhad Mashnouq to close the nursery.
