FM Bassil: Arab consensus is vital, but Lebanon’s national unity is of utmost importance

Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil stressed Thursday that one single standard is being adopted in terms of Lebanese foreign policy, which is based on maintaining national unity.

“Arab consensus is indeed vital, but Lebanon’s national unity is of utmost importance,” he said.

During a press conference, Bassil pointed out that Lebanon needs to have an independent foreign policy, noting that Lebanon will abstain from voting on resolutions concerning Syria during the UN Security Council meeting.
