Financial crisis hits Lebanese TV stations

The media sector in Lebanon, mainly the TV channels, is currently witnessing a financial crisis due to the narrowing of the advertising market and the deterioration of the economic situation in general.

A report aired by al-Jazeera channel concerning the media in Lebanon noted that 8 local TV channels are sharing an advertising market that can only cover the budget of only two.

In this context, LBCI’s Chairman Sheikh Pierre al-Daher said that “the advertising market needs reform,” adding the price of advertisement must be reconsidered and fixed.
