The Lebanese Army Intelligence Bureau said on Thursday that it succeeded in freeing an Iraqi hostage who was abducted earlier during the day. In a communiqué, the army said that Laith Tamer Salman was kidnapped in the border region of Wadi Khaled in exchange for ransom. Army Intelligence units managed to determine the location of the kidnapers and later raided the region. It freed the hostage and apprehended Hussein Ghazi Ghazi, a Lebanese national who planned the kidnapping. The communiqué added that Ghazi holds a criminal record and was previously tried for various offenses. A number of weapons used in the kidnapping were seized during the raid and the Army Intelligence is still searching for Ghazi's accomplices.
