Bishop Aoude: The nation is more important than personal interests and allegiance to foreign powers

Bishop of the Greek Orthodox Church for the Archdiocese of Beirut Elias Aoude addressed on Sunday Lebanese politicians, stressing that the nation is more important that personal benefits and tutelage to foreign powers.

In the Easter Holy Mass held at the St. George cathedral in downtown Beirut, Bishop Aoude stated that parliamentarians should elect a new president if they truly represent the Lebanese people, emphasizing that electing a head of state is their duty.

“I call on all sides to rebel against the reality of political feudalism and ignorance. I call on them all to return to their conscience,” he said in his sermon.
