Girl critically injured during shootout in Baalbek

A young girl was critically wounded on Thursday during a shootout that took place between a Lebanese Armed Forces unit and a wanted outlaw on the Riyaq-Baalbek highway.

The Lebanese Army was chasing a wanted suspect from the Zeaiter family when the man opened fire on the soldiers from his car.

The gunman was responsible for shooting the bullet that hit the girl, leading to an abdominal gunshot wound.

The girl identified as Zeinab Hussein Ayoub, was with her family near the highway at the time of the shootout and was rushed to the nearby Dar al-Amal hospital.

The suspect ran away to an unknown destination.
