Kataeb party leader: Some are driving Lebanon towards “dangerous and absurd conflicts”

Kataeb party leader Amine Gemayel lashed out on Friday at the Hezbollah-led camp without naming it, accusing it of driving the country into “dangerous and absurd conflicts” and “questioning the role of the Army Command.”

Gemayel’s comments were made during the opening session of Kataeb's 30th conference, which will elect a new head for the party.

“Under the guise of safeguarding the country, some are driving it in the most dangerous and absurd conflicts,” noted Gemayel.

Gemayel also lamented the violation of the country's borders by armed men and the paralysis of Lebanon’s state institutions.

As for the mass killing of Druze villagers in the Syrian town of Qalb Lawzah, Gemayel condemned the incident and dubbed it “a massacre against the Druze sect, the sect of wisdom,” adding that it is “a blatant violation of all values.”

As for the internal affairs of the Kataeb party, Gemayel told his comrades that the party “has regained its pioneering role at the organizational, national, political, syndical and international levels.”
