MP Aridi to LBCI: Druze an integral part of Syria

Democratic Gathering MP Ghazi Al-Aridi stated on Tuesday that the Druze community constitutes an integral part of Syria, stressing that said country is witnessing a state of instability aimed at toppling the regime.

Aridi told LBCI’s Nahrkom Said that Progressive Socialist Party Leader MP Walid Jumblatt had called on the Syrian regime since the Daraa incident and the beginning of the conflict to contain the situation rather than confront it, adding that he always calls on his son Taymour to remain vigilant when dealing with violence and war.

MP Aridi also asked: “Does standing against the Syrian regime make of MP Jumblatt a supporter of Israel?”

Nusra Front fighters shot dead 20 people in a Druze village in northwestern Syria on Wednesday (June 10) - an incident ignited by Nusra's attempt to confiscate a house.

Druze leaders had issued a call to arms in Sweida, alarmed by advances from the west and also from the east, where the Islamic State has been attacking the army.
