Public institutions to close on the first two days of Eid Al-Fitr

Prime Minister Tammam Salam issued on Sunday a memorandum ordering the closure of all public institutions and administrations as well as municipalities on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr.

“As per Decree No. 15215 Date 27.09.2005 and amendments thereto (…) all public institutions and administrations as well as municipalities are due to close on the first two days of Eid Al-Fitr,” the memo read.

The Sayyed Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah Institute announced on Thursday that Eid al-Fitr marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan will begin on Friday, July 17.

“On the basis of astronomical data, Friday, July 17 is the first day of Eid al-Fitr,” a statement from the institute said on Thursday.
