Residents of Kfour prevent trucks from disposing waste in the town’s dump

Residents of Kfour-Nabatieh held on Wednesday a sit-in on the road leading to their town’s waste dump.

Kfour municipality head Hussein Darwich and mayor of Kfour Mohammad Matar along with several residents prevented trucks loaded with waste to dispose the garbage in the dump.

The residents stressed that their sit-in is open ended until the total closure of the dump.

They also stressed that the said dump became a source of several diseases reaching neighboring towns.

Beirut and Mount Lebanon remain inundated with garbage after the shutdown of the Naameh landfill last week as per a government decision.

The closure caused trash to accumulate out of dumpsters after Sukleen failed to dispose of waste following the landfill's closure.
