What will happen to the boat rental project, only solution to electricity supply deficit?
Sources close to the Grand Serail denied information about Prime Minister Najib Mikati’s tendency to reject the boat rental project to generate electricity due to its high cost.

For his part, the Energy Minister’s production affairs advisor Raymond Ghajar assured that the energy minister did not receive any pertinent information from the prime minister, adding that work is ongoing with delegates from the government’s presidency to prepare the report and present it to the ministerial committee. Ghajar said that during the past few days, a delegation visited Houston and Turkey to check up on the two ships.

Ghajar clarified that at present, bringing a ship at the beginning of the summer would be impossible. He said that if the project was to be approved today, the first ship would not arrive before mid-August.

It is noteworthy to mention that cutting 100 Megawatt of power supply from any electricity plant means one additional hour of power rationing.
