Truck drivers reopen Jeita road

The state-run National News Agency reported on Tuesday that truck drivers protesting access restrictions to quarries that were recently declared as illegal reopened a Mount Lebanon road after causing huge traffic jams during the past six days.

The agency added that drivers started removing their trucks, saying that they met with Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun, who in turn, contacted Internal Security Forces Brigadier General Elias Khoury who promised to find a solution in this regard.

Last week, the drivers started their strike on the Jeita road calling for reopening sites, which the National Council of the Quarries and Crushers consider to be illegal.
