Introduction to the evening news 07-05-2012
14 million Syrian voters were invited on Monday to elect 250 members out of seven thousand candidates to represent them in the Parliament. However, this vitality was not enough to draw the image sought by the regime. First, the opposition boycotted the elections; second, many foreign stances, including France, described the Syrian elections as a “sinister joke”.

In France, following the presidential elections, the time has come to start facing challenges. While Hollande is expected to take over the presidency in May 15, indicators show that he will not be granted a grace period, amid the crisis that overshadows the Eurozone.

In Lebanon, after peaceful municipal by-elections, the attention was brought back to the old-new crisis, the public spending crisis. So far, no solution has been reached in this matter, awaiting the cabinet session scheduled on Wednesday.
