Verdict on General Fayez Karam’s case issued
The Permanent Military Court sentenced retired General Fayez Karam to 2 years hard labor and his civil rights have been revoked.

Fayez Karam was arrested on August 4, 2010 on suspicion of spying for Israel.

During the final hearing, seven witnesses were called for testimony and defense attorney Rashad Salamah railed against the early stages of investigation when his client was forced to give statements under duress.

Following the verdict, Change and Reform bloc member Ibrahim Kanaan slammed the Court’s decision saying that no material evidence was produced that could prove communications between Karam and Israel.
