Who is Sheikh Ahmed Abdul Wahed?

Sheikh Ahmed Abdul Wahed was born in 1969 in Al-Bireh, Akkar. He attended Al-Bireh’s official high school then studied Sharia law at the Rashid Mikati Institute. Sheikh Wahed founded al Nour Islamic School and the An-Noor Educational Foundation.

In 1990, he became the Imam of Al-Bireh Mosque and the preacher in nearby villages. He continued performing his duties until 2004.

In 2005, upon the assassination of ex-PM Rafic Hariri, Sheikh Abed al-Wahed supported MP Khaled Daher and was responsible for the crowds in the Future Movement’s ceremonies and the Islamic ceremonies.

Sheikh Ahmad Abed al-Wahed was a supporter of the Syrian revolution in Lebanon and helped Syrian refugees in Lebanon.

Sheikh Abed al-Wahed is a member in the municipal council of al-Bireh.
