STL to convene trial chamber in less than a fortnight

The President of the UN Special Tribunal for Lebanon issued an order on Thursday to convene the trial chamber for the first time on the 20th of September.

According to the Tribunal’s rules, the chamber will convene to hold initial appearances of any accused already in custody or to decide whether a trial in absentia is appropriate.

The STL President’s order also called on the Lebanese authorities to report on the 19th of September, the efforts they have made to find and arrest the indicted individuals.
