EDL: Gradual improvement in electricity coverage starting this weekend
Electricite du Liban announced on Tuesday that the company will witness gradual improvement starting this weekend. This coincides with EDL’s employment of “Group No. 3” generators bloc starting 23/06/2012 - following tests and general maintenance.

In a statement the EDL stated that maintenance work on “Group 1” generators located at Deir Ammar's power plant is expected to finish on 3/07/2012, should no security mishaps occur in the district of North. Maintenance work on the “Group 1” generators was halted on 25/05/2012 due to clashes that occurred in Tripoli and neighboring areas. Other group sets will also gradually commence work in the Zouk and Jiyyeh branches.

The company added that energy produced by the network currently reaches 1200 Megawatts and will reach its peak at 1600, noting that the market demands 2600 Megawatts – leaving the company at a deficit of approximately 1000 Mw.

Finally the company said that it will try to maintain consistent power stability, with equal distribution to all Lebanese areas exempting Beirut, which is under a special program under the recommendation of the Lebanese cabinet.
