Vegetable vendors join the protest wave

Alongside their vegetable carts and wares 50 grocery shop owners staged a protest in Sidon’s Nejmeh Square on Tuesday.

They blocked the road, and burned garbage disposal bins on the old Sidon route in retaliation for the municipality’s decision to move them from the old souk to the new one.

Subsequently the vendors set up tents, escalating the cities paralysis already progressed by the sit in lead by the Imam Bilal bin Rabah Mosque, Sheikh Ahmad Assir.
