Telecom data issue, to an end
The telecom data issue seems to be coming to an end, thanks to the efforts exerted by President Michel Sleiman and Prime Minister Najib Mikati.

In those regards, information pertaining to the telecom data has been delivered to security apparatuses, with IMSI soon to follow.

Commenting on the issue, Minister of Telecommunications Nicholas Sehnaoui accused opposing political parties through an interview with LBCI, of politicizing the data issue for electoral means and for demeaning the Free Patriotic Movement.

Sehnaoui reiterated that the Ministry has no say in whether the data is handed over or not, but that it has always been up to cabinet and the judiciary council to decide. He added that both Mikati and Sleiman insisted on the Judiciary Council to comply, even adding IMSI related info to the bargain.

In those regards ministerial sources confirmed to LBCI that Minister of Interior Marwan Charbel has penalized an ISF officer for intentionally delaying data related requests for over five days, which according to the sources enabled the March 14 camp to launch its counter campaign against the Ministry and all other parties affected.
