Majdalani: electricity plan costs additional $280 million
Future bloc member Atef Majdalani said that the bloc’s main concerns is to provide electricity to all Lebanese, noting that there is an additional $280 million cost on the electricity plan presented by the Minister of Energy Gebran Bassil.

Majdalani told “Voice of Lebanon” radio station that strict regulations should be imposed for proper execution of the proposed plan. He added that the current opposition is asking for clear regulations and guarantees in order to vote on it in the parliament.

Electricity draft law aims at relieving Lebanon of pandemic power outages, the draft electricity law proposed by the Minister of Energy Gibran Bassil would set aside $1.2 Billion to build power plants across Lebanon capable of producing an additional 700 megawatts. Opponents of Bassil’s plan claim that he will have sole control of the funds without supervision or oversight.
