Nicolas to LBC: Electricity plan handled with spite

Change and Reform bloc MP Nabil Nicolas said Saturday that his bloc would endorse the STL funding should the issue be approved in line with the constitution. He elaborated that the issue should be submitted first to the president then to the parliament, adding that “approving the plan under Chapter VII breaches the state sovereignty and does not lead to the truth.”

On the divisive electricity issue, Nicolas said that the delay in passing the electricity draft law would increase the state’s losses, adding that “the implementation of plans that depend on Arab or other external funds requires more than a year, while the electricity plan is a pressing issue.”

Nicolas told Nharkom Said TV show that the electricity plan is being handled with spite, adding that opposition to the plan by certain ministers was out of political motivations and not technical.

Nicolas expressed concern over the Arab uprisings for, according to him, they will lead to fundamentalist revolutions that would tear apart the region, adding “the Syrian regime’s survival would deter the Palestinians naturalization.” Nicolas wondered: “Why no one commented on the U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton when she considered that the popular uprising in the Middle East might put the religious minorities in jeopardy?”
