Justice Minister Albert Serhan noted that “the Court of Cassation celebrates the first century since its establishment and enters a new era in the practice of law,” adding that this court was founded in 1919, just one year before the declaration of the State of Greater Lebanon.
During the conference held at the Justice Palace to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Court of Cassation’s establishment, the minister stressed that the state of law can only survive when the Judiciary acts as an independent authority, pointing out that the Lebanese judiciary is facing many challenges.
“The court of cassation must exist and must survive by selecting top judges to lead its chambers,” he added.
