Will the Pope visit Lebanon amid current security developments?
The visit of the Pope Benedict XVI to Lebanon was not affected by the latest security developments.

Sources close to the Papal embassy told LBCI that the visit’s schedule was not modified, contrary to what has been said following the arrest of former Minister Michel Samaha. The sources confirmed that the visit will take place from the 14th till the 16th of September 2012, denying any statements of cancelling the visit.

The sources stressed that the Pope is insisting on making the visit no matter the circumstances, for it concerns ever Christian in the Middle East.
In this context, the director of the Catholic Information Center Father Abdo Abu Kassam told LBCI that the preparations for the Pope’s visit to Lebanon are ongoing, pointing that the country’s state will not change during the month of September.
