MP Michel Moawad called Tuesday on the cabinet to convene regardless of the political conditions in order to avoid committing a violation by issuing the budget without closure of accounts.
During the Parliament session held to discuss the 2019 budget, Moawad noted that the budget discussion took place under the pressure of the financial and economic situation and the pressure imposed by the financial markets and ranking agencies.
“We failed to reach a convincing budget and it is “an emergency landing budget” aimed at preserving stability in Lebanon to regain confidence,” he said, adding that what they agreed on in the 2019 budget won’t be accepted in the 2020 budget.
