Syrian refugees live in fear following kidnapping wave

The Mokdad clan does not make jokes, especially when their military wing goes the street. When they declare that the Syrian nationals in Lebanon are in danger, they mean it for sure. The kidnappings targeting Syrians have proven this fact.             

Consequently, the Syrian nationals in Lebanon are living in fear, as some of them have not left their houses since Wednesday; instead, they closed the doors and fortified them with bags of sand, especially in the regions close to Beirut’s southern suburbs.              

In Hamra Street, Choueifat and Dora, regions that used to be crowded with Syrian workers, are now almost devoid of them. Syrians are now experiencing the same situation as the one they lived after the assassination of former PM Rafik Hariri in 2005, back then, hundreds of Syrians were lost and dozens were killed.            

Once again, the same scene, the Syrians are the victims, but with a slight modification in the regional geography and a large change in the perpetrators’ identity.
