Basta massacre: Did Hadi kill his family before shooting himself?

Preliminary sources told LBC TV station that the eldest brother Hadi Dib is suspected to have massacred his family in their residence in Basta on Sunday night before he shot himself in a different room with the same weapon used in the murders.

According to the same sources, the seven bodies were transported to the hospital at two in the morning, adding that the father is still under investigation. The pending investigation has not yet produced any results, as the father is reported to be in a state of shock.

The sources stressed that the Dib El Hajj apartment in Basta was sealed upon orders from Beirut Investigating Judge George Rizk. Relatives and neighbors said that the Dib El Hajj family is known to be religious; however some sources said that the eldest son Hadi suffered from autism.

The Basta massacre took place Sunday night on Omar Bin Al Khattab Street in Basta where Nawal Younes and her six children, Hadi, Amin, Manal, Zahra, Zaher and Maha were found brutally murdered in their residence.
