El-Houti’s freedom after three days of detention

After being kidnapped by armed members across his house at Hawsh el-Ghanam in the Bekaa, Kuwaiti citizen Isam el-Houti returned safely back to his homeland.                    

The Kuwaiti ambassador Abdel Aal Al- Kinaii visited the three top officials thanking them for the efforts they exerted for the release of el-Houti.                   

For his part, Lebanese President Michel Suleiman hoped that this incident would not affect the bilateral ties between Lebanon and Kuwait. He stressed on the necessity of continuing the investigations and correlating prosecutions in order to reveal perpetrators and kidnappers. He also urged the need of intensifying efforts to release other kidnapped persons.         

After his release, el-Houti went to the house of the executive board member in the Amal Movement, Bassam Tleis, who had been leading the negotiation process by order of Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri. el-Houti explained what happened with him emphasizing that no ransom was paid.               

After spending his night at his country’s embassy, el-Houti and the Kuwaiti ambassador left to Kuwait.           

A happy end for el-Houti’s story, but what of Arab citizens and what of their trust in a country whose own people seem to have all sense in the word?
