Geagea calls for forming gvt crisis cell to follow up on Lebanese prisoners in Syria

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea said Saturday that the Lebanese-Syrian Supreme Council, the Treaty of Brotherhood, Cooperation and Coordination and all the treaties signed during the Syrian tutelage must be considered “null and void”.   

During the annual “Memorial Mass for the Martyrs of the Lebanese Resistance” in Meerab,  Geagea told Christians “Our Christ was never hesitant, scared, a coward or a spectator; he was always supportive of the weak and the oppressed. He was never with the oppressor. Let us not deny him again, let us not crucify him again”.       

On Tripoli’s recent incidents, Geagea said that they are nothing but an episode of the same series, adding that the abductions aim at creating hot spots to ease the pressure on the Syrian regime.  “The current majority is the reason behind the deteriorating situation in Lebanon since 2005”, he said.   

On the Lebanese held in Syrian jails, Geagea asked “What would Hezbollah say if the families of the Lebanese prisoners in Syria form their own military wings?”        

In this regard, he called on the government to form a government crisis cell to follow up on the case of the hundreds of Lebanese held in Syrian jails for decades.
