Geagea: Elections should be held on due date regardless of any circumstances
Lebanese Forces Chief Samir Geagea stressed on the importance of holding the country’s upcoming parliamentary elections on the due date, adding that manipulating date’s mandated by the constitution should not be accepted under any circumstance.

Geagea reiterated his undisputed support for the “smaller disctricts” law, since “it ensures equal representation for all”.

Addressing the head of the Change and Reform bloc, MP Michel Aoun, Geagea said the the LF were among the first of parties to call for the law proposed by the “Orthodox Gathering”.

Speaking on the issue of detainees, Geagea stressed that the case of the missing Lebanese persons is separate to that of those being held in detention in Syrian jails, adding that two separate committees should be created to follow up on the cases.

In his concluding remarks, Geagea criticized a March 8 official regarding claims of “Chechen, Afghan and Libyan terrorists passing through Lebanon saying: “if terrorists are found on Lebanese grounds, then it is up to government to arrest them”.
