Hout to LBCI: Sleiman has become more in tune with himself

Al-Jamaa Al-Islamiya MP Imad Hout considered President Michel Sleiman’s proposal of a national defense strategy as a prelude to annulling the longstanding formula of “the people, the army and the resistance,” adding that Sleiman’s proposal moves the exclusivity of the resistance from one group to the government as whole.                      

In an interview on Friday with Nharkom Said on LBCI Hout said that Sleiman has chosen the rule of governance and is more in tune with himself especially in the wake of Syria’s descending grip over Lebanon.              

“No one can cancel out the Resistance and its accomplishments, however absorbing the force of the Resistance and accommodating it in the government is what is needed in order to strengthen the country,” Hout stressed.                   

On a possible military assault against Iran, Hout said that it is the Lebanese government’s duty to declare its disapproval, and Hezbollah’s duty to comply with the government’s decision.                            

Commenting on “Innocence of Muslims” and protests that followed, Hout denounced the offence of all religions, but stressed that a reactions towards such insults should come within the context of religious ethics.
