Introduction to the evening news 24-09-2012

The Christian-Muslim spiritual summit in Bkerki contained today the repercussions of the Youtube film “Innocence of Muslims”.  

The civil authorities also played their roles in reducing the consequences of this film as Judge Nadim Zwein prohibited the broadcasting of this film in Lebanon.   

This as, the assassination attempt of General Aoun news deepened the division between March 14 and March 8 blocs. Conflicted positions conforming and denying the accuracy of the incident were announced today as everyone awaits the general’s position that should be announced on Tuesday after the weekly meeting of his parliamentary bloc.  

In another security context, the kidnapping wave's events did not stop in Lebanon. Lebanese citizen Bassel Al-Mays managed to escape from his kidnappers without paying any ransom.  

However, Ali Ahmad Mansour had to pay $600,000 to his kidnappers who gave him back his freedom and  LBP 100,000 for a taxi ride home.    

On the international level, UN Special Envoy to Syria Lakhdar Brahimi announced that 5000 mercenaries are fighting for the Syrian opposition, stressing that the situation in Syria is aggravating.
