Bkerke Comission meetings to be resumed soon
Maronite Patriarch Mar Beshara Boutros Rai is trying to manage the crisis between the Christian parties that aggravated with the conflict over the electoral law. For these reasons, Bkerke Commission will resume its meetings to study the electoral draft law, under the chairmanship of Patriarch Rai.

In this context, the Patriarch went over the electoral law during his meeting with MP Sami Gemayel, MP Alain Aoun and Former Minister Youssef Saadeh at Bkerke on Wednesday, stressing that the law should assure the “best Christian representation in the parliament.”

Kataeb sources told LBCI that the discussions shall be resumed and the parties shall discuss new suggestions, such as the smaller districts proposal.

The sources added that in case the Muslim representatives will refuse this proposal, the discussions will tackle the proportional representation.

For his part, MP Alain Aoun reported to LBCI that the Patriarch first concern is the Christian unanimity over the most adequate electoral law for Christians.

Aoun also stated that the other party did not present a detailed document of the smaller districts proposal and did not respect what was agreed on previously  during Bkerke Commission meetings in 2011.
