Introduction to the evening news 05-10-2012

Jordan, Syria and Bahrain witnessed a chaotic Friday.

Thousands of protesters demonstrated in Amman after the Organization of Muslim Brotherhood called for a mass march to ask for reforms and a more democratic parliament.

In Bahrain, the police clashed with Shiite protesters who were marching toward Pearl Square.

In Syria, opposition militants downed a regime war jet in Damascus Reef, as Alawite activists called their fellow believers to revolt against Assad’s regime.

Meanwhile, Turkey threatened Syria not to test its capacity for deterrence for it would be "a fatal mistake".

For his part, President of Syrian Opposition Council Abdelbasset Sida is trying to enhance the council’s role by increasing the number of its members to 600.

As for Lebanon, the upcoming elections are still invading the Lebanese scene as politicians take a break during the weekend to prepare for the next round.
