Parliament convenes, makes minor adjustments

   
Parliament convened on Tuesday morning in Nejmeh Square to elect a secretary general, 3 commissioners, and members of the parliamentary committees.

Parliament reportedly agreed on making small changes to committee members; officially replacing MP Fadi Karam with late MP Fouad Habib on behalf of the Lebanese Forces.

During the session, the Parliament ratified the minutes of the legislative session held on the 2nd of July with Berri signing 22 laws, and postponed the file of contract workers until other sessions to be held on the 7th and 8th of November.

Speaker of the Parliament Nabih Berri asked reporters to leave in order to hold a closed session among lawmakers.

He also criticized deputies who dropped out from the committee's session.       

Right after the session's end, the sub-parliamentary committee emanating from the joint committees will hold its first meeting to discuss the electoral law.     
                
Prior to the session, the Speaker met with PM Najib Mikati.              

After the session, the Speaker held a second meeting with PM Najib Mikati to discuss development on the Lebanese field. He also held talks with Future bloc leader, Fouad Siniora         

For his part, Deputy Parliament Speaker Farid Makari said that the sub-parliamentary committees postponed discussing the electoral law until next Thursday and kept the committee's deliberations confidential.
