Introduction to the evening news 21-10-2012

7 years later, Wissam Hassan joins late Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, whose assassination rocked the entire country in 2005. Now questions arise as to what reaction Hassan’s assassination will yield.     

Hariri’s assassination drove out the Syrian’s from Lebanon, bringing about the downfall of then Prime Minister Omar Karami’s government. This as Syria drowns in a sea of blood and Mikati’s government hangs on the line.

The latter did not present his anticipated resignation, butwill not be calling for active cabinet sessions until he receives instructions from Lebanese President Michel Sleiman on the subject manner.              

The directives will only be given following consultations with members of the national dialogue. In this regard Sleiman met with Kataeb chief Amine Gemayel to kick off those consultations.      

March 14 forces however seem adamant on boycotting any calls for dialogue stating that “no dialogue should take place on the expense of the blood of the martyr.”         

Via former Prime minister Fouad Siniora, the March 14 bloc  called for a “neutral rescue government”.             

And so it seems the country has entered the danger zone.

Mikati awaits the results of the consultations orchestrated by the Lebanese President.         

March 14 Forces reject dialogue.             

It is a deadlock indeed.                

Most strikingly was the statement voiced by President Sleiman, whereby he tied the case of former minister Michel Samaha to the assassination of Hassan calling on the judiciary to “expedite in the indictment of the latter.”             

So will the indictment target Syrian Presidential Adviser Buthaina Shaaban and Brigadier General Ali Mamlouk?
