Berri: Role of Constitutional Council is to monitor constitutionality of laws

Speaker Nabih Berri commented on Friday on President Michel Aoun’s statements about the Constitutional Council.

“The role of the Constitutional Council is to monitor the constitutionality of laws, while the interpretation of the Constitution is the right of the Parliament solely. This decision was taken unanimously during a debate at the general assembly after the Taef accord,” he noted.
