Introduction to the evening news 29-10-2012

During UN special envoy to Syria Lakhdar Brahimi’s visit to Lebanon, he stated that he fears the Syrian crisis will cause the complete destruction of Syria.

Today, Brahimi said from Moscow that he fears the Syrian crisis is aggravating.

Brahimi’s fears are translated through the violent attacks which took place on the last day of Eid Al-Adha's truce, as Syrian warplanes conducted 60 airstrikes in 4 hours.

In Lebanon, March 14 bloc will be taking escalatory measures against the Lebanese cabinet as Deputy Speaker Farid Makari announced that March 14 MPs will boycott the joint parliamentary committee meeting scheduled next Wednesday.

For their part, the ministers are getting ready for the upcoming cabinet session on Wednesday. The agenda will include 90 items, among them the item concerning the ranks and salaries series.

In this context, the Syndicates Coordination Committee called off Wednesday’s strike but it is still unsure if the cabinet will endorse the series’ law.

As for the case of the Lebanese journalist Fidaa Itani detained by the Syrian rebels in Aazaz, the Turkish authorities reported that he will be released very soon.
