Lebanese Army Commander visits forces deployed in Tripoli

Lebanese Army Commander General Jean Kahwaji visited army troops deployed in Tripoli, especially in hot spots where clashes had been raging on the axes of Bab el-Tebbaneh and Jabbal Mohsen.

The Lebanese Army had deployed further in the area by dawn with heightened security precautions as to prevent any resurgence in the clashes.

Tripoli has been the scene of proxy battles between the pro-syrian regime Jabbal Mohsen and pro-opposition Bab el-Tebbaneh.

Kahwaji warned of the danger of Tripoli remaining under the mercy of gunmen, stressing the determination of the army to maintain stability in the city. He said that he is in permanent contact with the city’s religious and political leaders to deal with the incidents’ repercussions.
