Houri to LBC: The sole legal means to fund the STL is through the cabinet

Future Movement official MP Ammar Houri told Nharkom Saiid TV show on Sunday that “Lebanon’s failure to uphold its international commitments, including the STL funding, will have severe repercussions,” adding that “the sole legal means to fund the STL is through the cabinet that should take a decision in this regard, followed by a decree.”

Houri confirmed that “the tribunal’s work is ongoing and it is in no one’s interest to put Lebanon on collision course with the international community.”

“Not to fund the STL is a blatant mistake. The cabinet will collapse immediately should Lebanon fail to take a decision in this regard,” he added.

In his concluding remarks, Houri stressed that “there is no link between funding the STL and extending its term.”
