Kenaan to LBC: STL funding is strictly a constitutional issue

Change and Reform bloc MP Ibrahim Kenaan told Nharkom Said TV show that the parliament and the cabinet need to address the issue of funding the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL), adding that the Finance and Budget Committee will not discuss this matter during its Monday session.  

 “The Finance Committee will dedicate its session on Monday to look into the issue of accounts, examine the work done so far by the Financial Investigation Commission and listen to what Finance Minister Mohammad Safadi has to say about the new plan that will be adopted to settle the financial issue”, Kenaan said.

 Kenaan highlighted the importance of addressing the issues of donations, advances and financial imbalance, all of which are problems that started with the Taef Agreement was first signed.

Speaking on a wikileaks article published in Al-Mustaqbal daily, Kenaan said: “We thank the newspaper for the interest that it is attributing to the issue; all that is being said about us is a manifestation of the close ties between the Free Patriotic Movement (FPM) and Hezbollah.”
